The best part of Caitlin Lainoff's week is when she gets to go teach at the various schools around town connected with Aimee Art Productions! This is her second year teaching with Aimee and she can't say enough about how exciting it is to watch children grow and learn. She has a passion for all different types of art and teaching gives her the opportunity.
In addition to working with Aimee Art Productions Caitlin has been working all over the country. She is a scenic, production and puppetry designer as well as director and teacher. This is also her second year teaching at California State University Northridge, where she teaches theatrical design. This is her fourth year with the Community Arts Partnership where she directs the puppetry program at Plaza de la Raza. Her puppet opera, Le Petit Macabre, premiered in New York at the Great Small Works International Toy Theater Festival and the Santa Monica Museum of Art.
Recently, she opened a successful run of Comedy of Errors at CSUN that, among other things, introduced high school students to Shakespeare. Upcoming events include a children's television show, a feature film called Let Go, a scenic design for the Independent Shakespeare Company that will take place in Griffith Park and a puppet premiere at the Boulder Fringe Festival.
Caitlin has been slowly making her way across the county, growing up in Virginia, graduating from Washington University in St. Louis with a degree in English and Scenic Design and finally graduate school at CalArts.
